Expressing what I see through who I am |
|
I have always had an interest in art, but I finally decided to pursue it more seriously several years ago.
I was juried into the Watercolor of Society of Oregon in 1997. My paintings have been in local, state, and national shows.
Painting is the process of creating something beautiful and lasting,
and I love it. Painting for me is a way to connect with the world
around me. Hopefully, the viewer will also discover the beauty of what
I see in my paintings.
I begin each painting by looking for relationships. Everything
beautiful begins with some kind of relationship. I try to see it and
then enhance it. It may be the way a forest stands out against the sky,
or the contrast of light and shadow on a wall, or the warmth of a color
bathed in sunlight. Once I see it that is what I want to paint.
A painting, for me, is an expression of reality filtered through my
personality. The artist becomes a part of the painting. It is an
expression of a feeling from my personality to yours.
I hope you enjoy viewing my paintings as much as I have enjoyed painting them.
